Legacy House

Legacy House is SCIDPDA's senior assisted-living facility located in the heart of the Chinatown International District.

One in every three Chinatown International District residents is over the age of 60. Many of our neighborhood elders have lived in the Chinatown International District for decades and helped to build its foundation. Sadly, over 75 percent of our elders also live on less than $6,000 a year in sub-standard housing that lack proper cooking and food storage facilities. The majority of elders are immigrants or refugees that speak limited English and have difficulty accessing traditional health services due to cultural and language barriers. As a result, our elders have historically suffered from premature health deterioration, chronic illness, and early death.

In response to the community's critical need for affordable, culturally-appropriate senior services, SCIDPDA opened Legacy House in 1998. Legacy House provides our elders with a dignified, nurturing, and compassionate environment that keeps our residents healthy, active, and independent. Our multi-lingual staff respects, understands, and accommodates the traditions of our multi-Asian clientele. Legacy House integrates assisted-living services, adult day programs, and nutrition and health monitoring in one convenient location in the heart of the Chinatown International District so community elders are not forced to move away from their community.
